Ogre Prince (オーガプリンス Ōgapurinsu) is a Level 1-120 Boss and is one of the first Bosses that players encounter in Dragon Marked For Death. He appears in the Quests The Ogre Fort, Cavern of Torment: Floor 35, and Ancient Gods.
Overview[]
The Ogre Prince is a towering ogre enemy who serves as the game's second boss (after Equus). His father, the chief of the ogres, sits on his shoulder and gives him orders. Not much is known about the Ogre Prince other than his apparent royal lineage and his taste for human flesh.
History[]
The Ogre Prince is encountered at the end of the Ogre Fort, wherein you are attempting to rescue some kidnapped villagers. Upon encountering him, you watch him devour half of a human's body and toss the rest away. He comments that the player character stinks worse than pigs while his father similarly demeans them for their Dragonblood lineage. Once defeated, the Ogre Prince collapses on the floor, dead. He simultaneously crushes his own father in a humorous fashion.

Boss Behavior[]
Overview[]
Attack Behaviors[]
The Ogre Prince focuses on brute strength and Physical attacks to crush his opponents. He has 4 main attacks at his disposal, which are named for the sake of this guide. Attacks have different behaviors depending on the Q.Lv.
Rush[]
- The Ogre Prince performs a tackle in which he lowers his head and charges forward.
- This attack is the Ogre Prince's main way of moving around.
- Once he hits a player, he will stop tackling.
- If the player is the furthest away possible from him, he travels forward and stops about slightly more than 2/3 of the screen at maximum camera zoom.
- This attack has no differences between Q.Lv.
Boulder Slam[]
- The Ogre Prince winds up his arm before slamming his club into the ground, which throws a line of boulders out across the field.
- The boulders will be thrown and land at almost the entire arena. Boulders are destroyed upon impact, either hitting the ground, a wall, or a player character.
- During his wind-up animation (before he slams down the club), the Ogre Prince flashes red, allowing Warrior to stun him.
- At Q.Lv 20+, the first 3 boulders rise slightly higher than the rest, while the 4th boulder and onwards start up lower. You can dodge the boulders safely by moving under the 3rd boulder, and before the 3rd boulder lands, move backwards towards where the now-destroyed 4th boulder would have been.
Q.Lv | Wind-up (Seconds) | Number of Boulders | Boulder Trajectory |
---|---|---|---|
1+ | ~2.4 sec | 3 | Only far boulders |
10+ | ~2.4 sec | 6 | Only far boulders |
20+ | ~1.7 sec | 10 | Gap after 3 boulders |
35+ | ~1.2 sec | 10 | Gap after 3 boulders |
Fire Breath[]
- The Ogre Prince takes a deep breath in before blowing out a medium-range fire breath that sweeps up and down.
- The Fire Breath is first blown out in the middle, arcs downward, and then finally upward.
- There is a chance to get Burn when hit by this attack.
Q.Lv | Length (At Max. Camera Zoom) |
---|---|
1+ | ~1/2 of the screen + Boss hitbox |
10+ | Slightly less than ~2/3 of the screen + Boss hitbox |
20+ | ~2/3 of the screen + Boss hitbox |
35+ | Slightly more than 2/3 of the screen + Boss hitbox |
Fire Shockwaves[]
- The Ogre Prince repeatedly slams his fist into the ground, generating a set of 3 flame waves for each slam (except for Q.Lv 1).
- The flame waves travel all the way across the Ogre Prince's arena until they hit a wall.
- Depending on the Q.Lv, the number of sets changes.
- There is a chance to get Burn when hit by this attack.
Q.Lv | Wind-up (Seconds) | Sets | Total Waves |
---|---|---|---|
1+ | ~0.9 sec | 1 | 1 |
10+ | ~1.5 sec | 1 | 3 |
20+ | ~1.5 sec | 1 | 3 |
35+ | ~0 sec | 3 | 9 |
Non-attack Behaviors[]
The Ogre Prince also has additional behaviors, which are named for the sake of this guide.
Turn[]
- The Ogre Prince stands still and turns around. He does not attack while he is doing this.
- After Rushing, if the player is on the opposite side of him, the Ogre Prince will sometimes attack first without facing the player before turning.
Destroy Floor[]
- Exclusive to the Quest The Ogre Fort, the Ogre Prince will destroy the floors of the arena at certain HP thresholds.
- The destruction of the boss room's 3 floors depends on the Ogre Prince's health (80%, 60%, and 40%, respectively).[1] If extra thresholds are met before he can break the first floor, the next floor or two will break after a short animation.
- The floor destructions are a critical opportunity for Shinobi's Dragon Meteor or Bandit's Fire Relic to execute a multi-hit attack.
- If the Witch casts Levitate right before the Ogre Princes destroys the floor, she will remain in the air, and the player can continue casting Levitate to keep her there even as more floors are destroyed.
Boss Behavior Stages[]
The following behavior stages are exclusive to the Quest The Ogre Fort, as this is the only Quest where he destroys floors.
Stage 1[]
- Stage 1 occurs at 100% HP.
- Ogre Prince is introduced with a short cinematic, in which he rips and eats a human alive. He then insults the player character.
- Ogre Prince will always first attack with Rush. All Classes can jump over him to the right or move all the way to the left, against the Boss Gate, to dodge him.
- After this, he will randomly choose between Rush, Fire Breath, Boulder Slam, and Fire Shockwaves.
Stage 2[]
- Stage 2 occurs at 80% HP.
- Ogre Prince will destroy the floor for the first time.
- He will continue randomly choosing between Rush, Fire Breath, Boulder Slam, and Fire Shockwaves.
Stage 3[]
- Stage 3 occurs at 60% HP.
- Ogre Prince will destroy the floor for the second time.
- He will continue randomly choosing between Rush, Fire Breath, Boulder Slam, and Fire Shockwaves.
Stage 4[]
- Stage 4 occurs at 40% HP.
- Ogre Prince will destroy the floor for the last time.
- He will continue randomly choosing between Rush, Fire Breath, Boulder Slam, and Fire Shockwaves, but specific behaviors may be slightly different.
- Boulder Slam behavior will change to the one of the higher Q.Lv, if applicable.
- For example, at Q.Lv 10, his Boulder Slam will change from having only 6 boulders thrown at a far trajectory to having 10 boulders with a gap after the first 3 boulders.
- Fire Shockwaves behavior will slightly change, if applicable.
- For example, at Q.Lv 1, his Fire Shockwaves will change from having only 1 wave to having 3 waves.
Elemental Weakness[]
Because Ogre Prince is a Fire-type enemy, he is weak against Ice attacks. Additionally, it's easy to repeatedly inflict him with Paralysis (Thunder), and through this he can remain stunned almost indefinitely.
Note: The affliction of Paralysis has the potential to cause glitches in the Ogre Prince's A.I., which freezes him for multiple frames or interrupts his attacks, resulting in extra waves of fire and other effects.
Strategy & Gear Recommendations[]
Dodging[]
Avoid getting cornered by the Ogre Prince on either side of the arena, or you'll have no room to dodge his attacks.
- Being on the side he's facing away from will keep you safe from every attack except for Fire Shockwaves. This strategy is best viable in multiplayer, unless you have enough movement to pass him with Classes like Shinobi, Bandit, or Small-sword Empress.
- Rush can be dash-jumped over by any character.
- Fire Breath can be dealt with only by keeping your distance. Alternatively, as Warrior or Ice Bandit, you can use Dragon Guard to destroy the fireballs.
- For Boulder Slam, the club's hitbox has a small range, but the boulders will cross the entire room. If there are 10 boulders, the best openings to dodge these are either after the first 3 boulders or in between the last 2 boulders. Alternatively, if you have high enough HP, you can also use your own body and take damage to destroy the boulders and prevent them from hitting your teammates.
- Fire Shockwaves require precise dash-jumping back and forth to land in the small openings between each set of waves.
- There are grapple points for Empress to dodge his attacks, and Witch's Levitate spell can avoid Rush and Fire Shockwaves.
