Empress is a highly aggressive character who is armed with both melee and ranged attacks, able to inflict heavy damage at any distance. For players familiar with other 2D action platformer games, she is often considered to be a good introductory character for the game, with the highlight being her melee attacks.
At the baseline, Empress has few additional evasive maneuvers, so she has to rely on dashing and jumping most of the time. Her Swing ability allows her to evade attacks in certain Boss rooms as well as collapse ceilings that other team members cannot access. With Small-swords, however, her Dragon Shot can be used for upward aerial movement, allowing her to evade large attacks much more easily.
In a party, Empress primarily serves as a DPS character, dishing out some of the heaviest attacks for the team. However, she does not have any additional abilities to give direct support to her allies. In general, she works well with other DPS characters and teams with support characters.
Empress can be a challenge to play as at higher-level Quests due to her deficiency in evasive maneuvers and low Health Points. Although she may be easy to start with, she is a character that requires a high amount of skill and mastery at the endgame.
Empress can fully use Swords starting from Level 1 and Small-swords starting from Level 20. Swords are for ground combat and are easy to use, whereas Small-swords are for aerial combat and have more advanced techniques overall. Empress's performance and controls vary significantly between the two Weapon types, so it is recommended to take advantage of both Weapons during Quests.

Empress and her fiancé.
The Empress is the daughter of the Dragonblood Clan chief. She bears the power of the Astral Dragon in her arm. While visiting a nearby village on the chief's behalf, her fiancé and fellow kin were slain by the Divine Knights in their razing of the Dragonblood Village. She and Amica have been best friends since childhood.[2]
